Preliminary investigations revealed that around 5:59 a.m., the child’s mother had briefly left the baby in the care of the grandmother. When she returned at about 6:30 a.m., she was told the grandmother had left the baby asleep on the bed while she went to bathe. However, upon returning to the room, the baby was nowhere to be found.

A swift search operation in the vicinity led to the suspect’s arrest, with the baby found safely in her custody.

The state Commissioner of Police, Baba Azare, reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to protecting children and ensuring that offenders are brought to justice.

Police authorities also urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to prevent similar incidents.
