The Lagos State Ministry of Transportation has released a traffic management plan ahead of the Phase I reconstruction and expansion of Ogunnusi Road in the Ikeja Local Government Area.

Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation Oluwaseun Osiyemi said in a statement on Sunday that the measures were intended to allow the Federal Ministry of Works to start construction on the corridor that runs from Ojodu-Berger Bus Stop to Mobil Filling Station Junction (Ijaye/Agege bound).

“The project forms part of a comprehensive plan to upgrade the 9.0-kilometre dual carriage corridor between Ojodu-Berger Bus Stop and Mobil Filling Station Junction (both inbound and outbound).

“The entire project (Phase 1 & 2) is scheduled to run from Friday, 6th March 2026, through different phases to Thursday, 6th January 2028,” the statement noted.

Phase I covers a 4.5-kilometre inward stretch from Ojodu-Berger Bus-Stop to Mobil Filling Station Junction (Ijaye/Agege bound). Vehicular access will be completely restricted within the designated construction zone.

The works are expected to run from Friday, 6th March 2026, to Saturday, 6th February 2027.

Diversion Routes for Motorists

Motorists heading inward from Ijaye/Agege through Ogunnusi Road (Ojodu-Berger) will be diverted onto a contraflow on the Ojodu-Berger-bound carriageway for approximately one kilometre before regaining access to the main road.

Alternatively, drivers may use Dr Nurudeen Olowopopo Way to connect Otunba Jobifele Way to Obafemi Awolowo Way, then link Lateef Jakande Road to reach their destinations.

Articulated and truck drivers from the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway heading to Agege are advised to reroute through Ojota/Maryland, linking Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way to Kodesoh Street, then to Oba Akran Avenue, Guinness Roundabout, Ogba Road, and Pen Cinema.

For motorists travelling from Ijaye/Agege toward Ojodu-Berger, traffic will continue, but temporary contraflow measures will be implemented near the work zone.

Emergency tow vehicles will be stationed along the corridor to respond promptly to breakdowns, ensuring smoother traffic flow.

The Lagos State Government has urged road users to cooperate with traffic officials, comply with signage, and exercise patience during the construction period.

Earlier, LASG had announced a traffic plan for the reconstruction of a section of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway between Super Bus Stop and Ilepo Bus Stop (inbound Lagos), scheduled to run from 7th March to 30th May 2026, spanning 12 weeks.
