Disu’s appointment was endorsed at a council meeting held at the State House, Abuja, and chaired by the president, with key government officials in attendance.
Among those present were Vice President Kashim Shettima, governors, and senior officials, including the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Hashimu Argungu, and other top members of the federal cabinet and security leadership.

Several governors and officials reportedly commended Disu’s track record, stating his experience in crime control and policing.
Babajide Sanwo-Olu praised his performance during his time with the Rapid Response Squad in Lagos, while Abdullahi Sule described his selection as merit-based.
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike also pointed to Disu’s past service in Rivers State and the FCT, noting his effectiveness in tackling crime and strengthening security operations. The endorsement was seconded by Peter Mbah.
Disu’s confirmation comes days after he was named acting IGP following the resignation of Kayode Egbetokun.
Disu joined the force in 1992 and has held several strategic positions, including Assistant Inspector-General in charge of the Special Protection Unit and the Force CID Annex in Lagos.Â
