The bail hearing of the son of the late Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe, Bellarmine Mugabe, has been postponed.
Bellarmine appeared in the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court alongside his co-accused, Tobias Matonhodze, on Tuesday. The duo are on trial for shooting a 23-year-old man believed to be a security guard.
The 29-year-old son was arrested on February 19, but the police reportedly found bullet cartridges while searching the area after the shooting, but found no firearm.

He was also charged with attempted murder and defeating the ends of justice, which relates to the missing firearm that same month. His case was postponed the last time he appeared in court till March 3.
When he appeared in court on Tuesday, a power outage at the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court reportedly occurred, leading to the postponement of his case.
The defence attorney for Bellarmine and his co-accused, Sinenhlanhla Mnguni, said they are still awaiting documentation from the state.
“At this stage, we are still awaiting receipt of certain documents from the state. However, we have been informed that we will receive those during the course of today (Tuesday) and will thereafter be able to take instructions from our clients and proceed with whatever necessary applications we intend to bring,” said Mnguni.
EWN reported that the state intends to oppose their bail application.
