Nigeria will launch its National Single Window (NSW) platform on March 27, the Presidency announced on Wednesday.
The platform is intended to streamline trade procedures and improve efficiency in the country’s import and export processes.
The Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, said the initiative is a far-reaching fiscal reform that will enhance trade efficiency and boost Nigeria’s competitiveness, according to a statement released by presidential aide Bayo Onanuga.
Gbajabiamila spoke during a stakeholders’ meeting at the State House in Abuja attended by ministers, agency heads, and other key officials.
“We are about to launch yet another reform, fiscal reform by this administration, which in its nature will be very transformational,” Gbajabiamila said.
“As the name suggests, it is a single national window as opposed to multiple single windows.
“This meeting is to review the progress we have made and get your commitment that we will manage this transition smoothly.”
The NSW was first introduced nearly two years ago by President Bola Tinubu and is aimed at streamlining trade procedures.

NSW Coordinator Tola Fakolade said agencies must intensify support prior to the March 27 “go-live.”
“The support that we need from each of the agencies is even more critical now. Documents will be submitted once and shared with all relevant agencies without duplication,” Fakolade said.
Fakolade said the first phase will enable online processing of import permits, electronic submission of cargo manifests, and the introduction of a centralised risk management system.
He added that nationwide user training is ongoing and pilot testing will soon be conducted.
Cargo manifests would be electronically submitted and automatically sent to the appropriate agencies without the need for human intervention, according to Fakolade.
Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance Wale Edun said, ‘This is a growth-enhancing and growth-enabling project. What is required of the Ministry of Finance, we will definitely do.”
Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Jumoke Oduwole, said the project is a critical component of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and pledged to collaborate with agencies in the weeks leading up to the launch.
Central Bank Governor Olayemi Cardoso; Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, Zacch Adedeji; and Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, also expressed support for the initiative.
At the end of the meeting, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment was mandated to lead the final implementation phase before the March 27 launch.
