US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he would rate the United States’ military performance in the ongoing conflict with Iran as “about a 15” on a scale of 10 as the war entered its fifth day.
Speaking at the White House to business leaders, Trump said US forces were in a strong position and claimed that Iranian leadership figures were being killed fast.
“We’re doing well on the war front, to put it mildly. Somebody said on a scale of 10, where would you rate it? I said about a 15,” Trump told a gathering of tech bosses at the White House.
Trump claimed that Iranian leadership was being targeted effectively, stating that “everybody that seems to want to be a leader, they end up dead.”
He added that Tehran’s ballistic missile capabilities were “being wiped out rapidly” and described US forces as being in a “very strong position.”
Trump reiterated the rationale for US military action, stating concerns that Iran was pursuing nuclear weapons.
“When crazy people have nuclear weapons, bad things happen,” Trump added.
On the first day of the joint air campaign with Israel, which has already killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, the US leader promised to “continue forward” with the operation.
