The gunman who opened fire at the White House correspondents’ dinner at the Washington Hilton Hotel on Saturday has been arrested by the police.
Two law enforcement officials told the AP that the gunman has been identified as 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen from Torrance, California.
Allen, a tutor and computer programmer from California, was a guest at the Washington Hilton, where the annual gala dinner was held. Interim DC Police Chief Jeffery W. Carroll said the suspect was armed with a shotgun, a handgun and multiple knives.

A US attorney revealed that the suspect will be charged with two counts of “using a firearm during a crime of violence” and for “assault on a federal officer using a dangerous weapon”. He will be arraigned in a federal court on Monday.
The shooting incident which occurred on Saturday stirred panic among the guests at the annual gala dinner. Trump, US Vice President JD Vance, and other US officials present at the event were evacuated by law enforcement officials.
The US President said the suspect was armed and might have acted alone in the shooting incident. Trump added that he may have been the target of the security incident, and that officials are working to determine the motive behind the shooting.
