The U.S. State Department confirmed on Tuesday that a limited-edition passport featuring President Donald Trump’s picture will soon be released.
The special design is intended to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence this July.
According to officials, the interior of these passports will display the president’s official portrait superimposed over the historic document, accompanied by his signature rendered in gold ink.

These commemorative documents will be available exclusively in Washington, D.C., at no extra cost to applicants, though it remains unclear if citizens can opt out of receiving the special edition.

While standard US passports typically highlight landmark events like the Moon landing or national monuments, this move marks a significant departure from democratic norms, as few modern nations feature sitting political leaders in their travel documents.
This initiative is the latest in a series of efforts by the president to integrate his personal brand into federal institutions.
Since returning to office, his name and image have been prominently displayed on government buildings and centres for the performing arts.
Furthermore, the Treasury Department recently announced that the president’s signature will soon be featured on U.S. currency, mirroring a practice more commonly seen in monarchies or with non-political heads of state.
