Leaders from Ijaw and Urhobo communities in Delta State have delivered a forceful message to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), insisting that no election will take place in affected constituencies unless the Supreme Court-ordered delineation is fully implemented.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Egbema Kingdom leader David Reje declared that the demand for clearly defined electoral wards and units is non-negotiable. He stressed that the communities will no longer entertain appeals or delays from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), maintaining that the commission must act in line with its own field reports and prior agreements.
”Without the new walls and the polling units, there shall be no elections in Warri Federal Constituency,” Reje warned, adding that they will not entertain any plea from INEC.

Reje framed the issue as one of constitutional compliance and representation, arguing that without proper delineation, any electoral process in the affected areas would lack legitimacy. He warned that any attempt to proceed outside the agreed framework would be strongly resisted by the people, describing the situation as a generational concern tied to fairness and inclusion.
The remarks also referenced broader expectations from the presidency, noting that the oath to uphold the Constitution places a responsibility on national leadership to ensure that lawful directives, including court rulings, are enforced without compromise.
The position by Ijaw and Urhobo leaders introduces fresh tension into the already sensitive political landscape in Delta State, particularly in Warri federal and state constituencies, where boundary disputes have persisted.
With elections approaching, the insistence on delineation as a precondition sets up a potential standoff between local stakeholders and electoral authorities.
