Apple has reached a $250 million settlement to resolve a class-action lawsuit alleging the company misled consumers regarding the AI capabilities of Siri.

The legal action claimed that Apple deceptively marketed non-existent features to drive sales for the iPhone 16 and specific iPhone 15 Pro models.

Plaintiffs argued that the company promoted artificial intelligence tools that were not available at the time of purchase and would not be ready for years.

The settlement encompasses approximately 36 million devices bought in the United States between June 2024 and March 2025.

While Apple has not admitted to any legal wrongdoing, eligible users could receive between $25 and $95 per device, depending on the final number of claims approved.

An advertising watchdog previously supported these claims, concluding that Apple’s marketing falsely implied the upgraded Siri was currently available.

The controversy follows a significant 2024 ad campaign that highlighted AI enhancements as a primary selling point.

Internal surveys noted that these Siri improvements were the most anticipated feature for potential buyers; however, Apple eventually pulled the advertisements and delayed the features indefinitely.

A federal judge in California is scheduled to hold a hearing on June 17, 2026, to grant final approval for the deal.
