A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, backed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has suspended party elder and Board of Trustees member, Bode George, along with 23 other chieftains, over alleged anti-party activities.
The suspension was announced in a statement issued on Friday by the chairman of the faction’s disciplinary committee, Kayode Ogunbiyi, and its secretary, Desmond Agho.
According to the committee, the decision was reached at a meeting held on Tuesday after reviewing petitions accusing the affected members of engaging in activities considered detrimental to the party and in violation of its constitution.
Other party leaders affected by the suspension include Aduke Maina, Abimbola Ogunkelu, Laja Adeoye, Tunji Shelle, Sunday Olaifa, Gbenga Adegbesan, Rita Orji, Kofoworola Bucknor, Onikepo Oshodi and Idera Sodipo.

Also suspended are Adedipe Ewenla, Bode Ogundipe, Aminu Suleiman, Roli George, Adetokunbo Pearse, Adeyemi Moyegun, Taiwo Kuye, Setonji Koshoedo, Muritala Ashorobi, Amos Fawole and Olumuyiwa Richard.
The committee alleged that the affected members had been associating with rival political parties in ways that undermined the interests of the PDP in Lagos State.
It stated that the suspended chieftains would no longer participate in party activities or represent the party in any official or unofficial capacity within the state.
The faction also warned that legal action could be taken against any of the suspended members if they act in a manner deemed contrary to the party’s interests.
