The Kabiru Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has ratified former President Goodluck Jonathan as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
The decision was taken on Saturday at a special national convention held at the faction’s office in Area 10, Garki District, Abuja.
Jonathan, who was absent at the event, had his certificate of return received on his behalf by Fred Agbedi, a member of the House of Representatives from Bayelsa State.
The faction had initially scheduled the convention for the A-Class Park and Event Centre in Abuja, but was forced to change venue.

This followed a directive by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) instructing hotels and event centres to only engage with political party leaderships recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The PDP faction aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is the bloc recognised by the electoral umpire.
Earlier on Saturday, police officers blocked access roads leading to the A-Class Park and Event Centre, prompting the relocation of the convention.
Party officials later confirmed that the event was moved to another venue within Area 10.
The faction is expected to announce a date for the formal presentation of the party’s flag to Jonathan in due course.
