France announced on Saturday that it is considering reciprocal measures after Burkina Faso abruptly broke off all diplomatic relations.
The French foreign ministry released a statement regretting the hostile and unfounded decision, which they claimed illustrates a worrying ideological drift by the Burkinabé authorities.

Following the diplomatic rupture, France issued an urgent warning advising its nationals remaining in Burkina Faso to exercise heightened vigilance.
The official separation cements years of worsening ties over regional security, sovereignty, and alleged foreign interference.

Burkina Faso Communications Minister Gilbert Ouedraogo confirmed that the diplomatic freeze took effect on Friday, accusing France of backing subversive networks and terrorists.
France strongly denies these allegations while the West African country continues to battle a brutal, decade-long terror insurgency that has displaced millions of citizens.
