Nigeria’s Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, showered high praise on Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike on Thursday, declaring that the minister has turned Abuja into a thriving site of visible results.
Speaking at the commissioning of the Old Keffi Road, Akpabio commended Wike’s hands-on leadership, noting that the minister successfully matches urban development with critical infrastructure projects across satellite towns, districts, and area councils so that the government leaves no community behind.
Akpabio recalled how Wike personally surveyed the corridor last year after completing the Saburi roads, witnessing firsthand the gruelling daily ordeals that commuters and traders endured.
“The FCT is better because you are the Minister today of the Federal Capital Territory.”

Wike immediately presented the situation to the Senate President, prompting swift approval from the Federal Executive Council.
The government awarded the contract to Lubric Construction Company Limited, a firm Akpabio lauded for delivering exceptional quality under an administration that rewards competence over political patronage.
The Senate President called Wike “Mr. Projects,” emphasising that the minister’s reputation relies on a concrete record of opened roads, installed streetlights, and met deadlines rather than empty slogans.
Akpabio firmly stated that Abuja has become a significantly better place under Wike’s watch.
Speaking on behalf of the president, Akpabio affirmed his absolute trust in the minister to continuously drive the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda forward.
