Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has denied protecting criminals.
Adeleke made the statement on Friday during a courtesy visit by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, to the Government House in Osogbo.

His remarks came after the IGP disclosed that the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, had informed him that some criminal suspects being sought by the police were allegedly taking refuge in the Government House.
Denying the allegation, Adeleke said he has never protected criminals and challenged the police to arrest anyone linked to criminal acts, regardless of their relationship to him.
“If you see any of my people who committed a crime, arrest them. If it is my son who committed a crime, arrest him and let him face the consequences,” the governor said.
Adeleke also accused some police officers of acting unprofessionally, citing the transfer of an officer who allegedly arrested a suspect connected to the killing of a 14-year-old boy in Ilobu.
He praised the IGP’s commitment to tackling indiscipline within the Nigeria Police Force and urged officers to carry out their duties fairly and without bias.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s willingness to cooperate with the police, stressing that while the state government supports law enforcement, officers must remain professional and uphold justice impartially.
