Argentina ended Wales’ brief winning streak with a 35-21 victory in San Juan on Saturday in the second round of the Nations Championship.
The Pumas bounced back from last week’s defeat to Scotland by scoring five tries, while Wales crossed the line three times, all through their front-row forwards.
The victory means only Ireland, South Africa and New Zealand remain unbeaten after two rounds of the competition.
Wales started brightly when captain Dewi Lake scored the opening try just two minutes into the match.
However, Argentina quickly responded with a try from Joaquin Oviedo before Justo Piccardo added another as the hosts took control.

Although Rhys Carre pulled one back for Wales, Argentina finished the first half strongly with tries from Marcos Kremer and Santiago Carreras, securing a four-try bonus point before the break.
Oviedo scored his second try early in the second half to extend Argentina’s lead, putting the match beyond Wales despite a late effort from replacement prop Ben Warren.
Wales captain Dewi Lake admitted his side struggled to match Argentina’s physical approach.
“They were a bit more physical than us and they beat us in that battle,”
“We were dropping off too many tackles. We have to work harder and be quicker,” Lake said.
Neither side kicked a penalty goal during the match, but both kickers were flawless with conversions.
Tomas Albornoz converted all five of Argentina’s tries, while Sam Costelow successfully added the extra points to each of Wales’ three tries.
