World number one Jannik Sinner clinched his fifth Grand Slam title on Sunday after overcoming a fierce challenge from Alexander Zverev in a thrilling four-set Wimbledon final.

Sinner dropped the opening set on Centre Court, marking only the third time he lost a set during the entire tournament.

The baseline battle featured thunderous serving and ferocious groundstrokes from both competitors.

The world number one admitted that morning nerves gripped him before the match, but he quelled his anxiety to deliver a ruthless performance, defending his maiden 2025 title.

Zverev’s stellar run to the final will elevate him to the world number two spot next week, prompting a smiling Sinner to acknowledge that the German poses a direct threat to his top ranking.

Despite losing his tenth consecutive match against the Italian, Zverev expressed zero regrets and joked during the trophy ceremony that he no longer liked Sinner.

Zverev noted that for the first time in his career, he truly believes he can win the prestigious Wimbledon trophy in the future.
