The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said ongoing infrastructure projects across Abuja’s satellite towns serve as President Bola Tinubu’s “report card,” arguing that visible development is the strongest response to criticism of the administration.

Wike made the remarks while addressing residents at the commissioning of the reconstructed Arab/Gbazango road in Kubwa, Bwari, saying the government’s performance would ultimately determine public support.

According to him, political opponents would find it difficult to convince residents that elections were manipulated when communities could see the impact of government projects.

“So, for those now, when an election is won squarely, you now say an election has been rigged,” he said.

You see, to make the people happy, it’s very easy. So you can shut the mouth of your opponents.”

The FCT minister argued that the administration’s investments in satellite towns have given residents tangible evidence of government performance.

“If there are opponents of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with what we have done at the satellite towns, they cannot do anything again,” he said.

“If they come to tell the people… the people will tell them, ‘When it was your turn, what did you do?’ This is what we call an operation: show your report card.”

Wike maintained that the Tinubu administration could point to its infrastructure record in both satellite communities and Abuja city. He added that the scale of development carried out by the FCT Administration had transformed the capital.

“So Abuja is shut down,” he said. “Abuja is closed. So if you are looking for any other thing, you can go anywhere, not in the FCT.”

During the event, Wike also responded to a request from community leaders for improved water supply, directing officials to address the issue without delay.

He stressed that the administration was prepared to meet the needs of residents and expected officials to deliver on that commitment.
