Kwankwaso Rallies Nigerians Behind Obi Ticket

Former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has urged Nigerians to support the Peter Obi-Kwankwaso presidential ticket as campaigns for the 2027 general election officially begin.

Kwankwaso, who is running alongside Obi on the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, said the election offers Nigerians an opportunity to choose a new direction for the country.

In a message marking the start of the presidential campaign, he pointed to the cost of living, unemployment, insecurity, and pressure on businesses as major challenges facing Nigerians.

“Nigeria stands at a critical crossroads,” Kwankwaso said, adding that the rising cost of food and essential goods has placed significant pressure on families, while millions of young people continue to search for employment and economic opportunities.

He also identified insecurity as a major issue, saying terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other forms of violence have cost families their loved ones, homes and livelihoods.

Kwankwaso said farmers need to return to their farms safely, children should have access to secure schools, and Nigerians should be able to live without fear.

The former Kano governor also called for greater investment in education, healthcare and infrastructure, alongside stronger institutions and improved transparency and accountability in the management of public resources.

Despite the challenges, Kwankwaso said Nigeria has the human and natural resources required to become a prosperous and secure country, but needs leadership capable of putting citizens first.

Explaining his decision to join Obi on the NDC presidential ticket, he said their partnership goes beyond regional, religious and personal considerations.

“Our partnership is not about region, religion or personal ambition. It is about Nigeria,” he said.

Kwankwaso said the ticket seeks a country where government works for citizens, young people can build successful futures at home and every Nigerian has a fair opportunity to prosper.

He called on young people, women, workers, farmers, entrepreneurs and professionals to participate in the political process and focus on issues affecting their daily lives rather than divisive politics.

“The 2027 election presents Nigerians with an opportunity to choose a new direction,” Kwankwaso said.

He also called for peaceful and responsible campaigning, asking Nigerians to support the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket and other NDC candidates in the elections.
