Former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani has mocked operators of fake government agencies for failing to shut down after discovering that another fictitious body had been exposed by authorities.

“If you are running a fake agency and you heard that another fake agency has been bursted, you suppose to shut down and run; but they stayed until the hammer reached to them. They get mind,” Sani wrote on X on Saturday.

The comment came after the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) uncovered a fake government agency operating within the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

The ICPC discovered the “National Brands Development and Made-in-Nigeria Special Project Office,” which had been allocated office space within the OSGF without presidential authorisation, ICPC Chairman Musa Aliyu told State House correspondents on Friday.

The fake agency was promoted by George Buchi Nwabueze, who operated under several variations of his name, including George Nathan Nwabueze, George Buchi Nwabueze and Prince George Buchi Nwabueze, Aliyu disclosed.

President Bola Tinubu ordered the arrest of Nwabueze and suspended three permanent secretaries following the discovery, Aliyu said.

The suspended permanent secretaries are M.S. Danjuma, Nadungu Gagare and Richard Pheelangwah.

The discovery follows the exposure of the fictitious Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, whose self-styled Director-General, Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew, is currently facing prosecution.

An ICPC interim report submitted to Tinubu on August 6 had earlier identified two other fictitious bodies.
