The Oyo State Government on Friday strongly condemned the abduction of several National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members of Oyo origin in Imo State, promising their families swift action to secure their freedom.
Oyo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, confirmed that Governor Seyi Makinde had directed officials to deploy all necessary resources.
Oyelade stressed that “the safety and well-being of every indigene of the state, within and outside our borders, remains a top priority.”

To coordinate an urgent rescue, the state government has established direct communication with security agencies, the Imo State Government, and NYSC leadership.
Emphasising the state’s resolve, Oyelade noted, “We are fully committed to securing the safe release of our children and will stop at nothing to ensure that they are reunited with their families without harm.”

He called on security forces to intensify their search operations, track down the perpetrators, and bring them to justice.
Addressing the affected households, the commissioner urged relatives to remain calm while authorities work on all fronts to resolve the crisis.
He reassured the public that Oyo State will collaborate with stakeholders to prevent future kidnappings, concluding, “The government stands firmly with the victims, their families, and the entire NYSC community at this time.”
