Nigerian comedian and actor Julius Agwu has opened up that he lost sexual function following brain surgery in the United States in 2015.

Agwu made the revelation on an episode of the Beer Parlour Talk Show uploaded on Saturday, speaking about the effect of the surgery on his body, career and personal life.

When the host asked whether the brain condition or the procedure had affected other parts of his body, including sexual function, Agwu answered in Pidgin English.

“After I do am, prick no dey work again now. He no dey work,” he said.

Other guests on the programme, including Mr Patrick, explained how a nerve involved in the procedure connects to the brain, appearing to link nerve damage to the condition Agwu described.

The operation came in 2015 after doctors identified three tumours in Agwu’s brain, one of which was reported to be the size of a golf ball.

The comedian has spoken previously about his health struggle and its effect on his life and career.

During the same episode, Agwu reflected on his influence on Nigerian comedy, saying he pioneered the music-comedy style.

“Music comedy na me form am o, that is to tell you how my brain dey work,” he said.

The conversation turned emotional as Agwu wept while discussing his career and expressing feelings of abandonment.

“God wey I dey serve, anybody wey get hand for wetin happen to me. I go dey look. My friends deserted me. They stopped talking to me, many of them. It is well,” he said.
