Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced Sunday that the United States is seeking to broker a new round of trilateral peace talks with Ukraine and Russia by the end of October.
Negotiations have stalled in recent months as Washington focuses on its conflict with Iran and Moscow accelerates aerial strikes across Ukraine.
“The American side is currently in contact with Ukraine and Russia and is proposing to somehow hold a meeting at the technical level in a trilateral format by the end of October,” Zelensky told reporters, confirming that he agreed to the proposed schedule during discussions with American negotiators on Saturday.

While Zelensky did not name a final venue, he noted that Ukraine remains “open to the Emirates or another country proposed by the American side.”
The United Arab Emirates previously hosted U.S.-mediated discussions intended to resolve the four-and-a-half-year conflict.
The initiative aligns with earlier signals from Moscow.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov previously stated that three-way discussions were possible in October, noting that Russian officials “do not rule out such a possibility” for the foreseeable future.
However, past negotiations have produced little tangible progress toward ending the war due to Russia’s persistent demands.
