Suspected Boko Haram terrorists killed at least 28 villagers gathering firewood in Nigeria’s Borno State, local anti-terrorist militia leaders confirmed Sunday.
Search teams recovered 13 additional bodies with gunshot wounds in surrounding bushes over the weekend, raising the initial death toll of 15 following the Thursday assault in Marte village.
The victims had ventured out to collect firewood, an essential resource for displaced families in the region.
