The Republic of Türkiye has expressed deep sadness over the military aircraft crash that killed 25 people in Ondo State on Monday.

The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs conveyed its condolences in a statement issued by the Turkish Embassy in Abuja.

The statement, titled “Regarding the Military Aircraft Crash in Nigeria,” expressed sympathy to the victims’ families and the Nigerian people.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of lives resulting from the crash of a military aircraft today (5 October) in Ondo State of Nigeria.”

“We extend our condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in this tragic accident, and to the people of Nigeria,” the ministry said.

The ministry also expressed sympathy to the affected families. Meanwhile, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) ATR-42 aircraft crashed in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, on Monday. The aircraft was on a routine flight from Benin to Lagos when it crashed near the Naval Base at Igbokoda.

According to authorities, the aircraft, with tail number NGR 931, lost contact with air traffic controllers at about 9:13 am. The crash claimed the lives of all 25 people on board.

The NAF later confirmed that the aircraft had five crew members and 20 passengers. The incident has prompted condolences from government officials and other stakeholders, while investigators continue to look into the cause of the crash.
