Twenty prospective National Youth Service Corps members who were kidnapped in Imo State last week have been released, a parent of one of the victims confirmed to News Central TV on Wednesday.
The graduates were abducted on October 1 while travelling from Ibadan, Oyo State, to orientation camps in Abia State. Their buses were attacked by gunmen at Umunoha on the Owerri-Onitsha Road.
They spent seven days in captivity before regaining their freedom.

The released victims are being treated at the Department of State Services Hospital in Owerri.

NYSC Director-General Brigadier-General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu has reportedly visited the hospital to see the victims and assess their condition.
He was joined by the Imo State Commissioner of Police, the Director of the DSS and the Commander of the 34 Artillery Brigade.

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma confirmed the release in a telephone call to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, at about 5 pm on Wednesday, according to a statement by the Olubadan’s media aide, Adeola Oloko.
