The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced plans to display the preliminary voter register across Plateau State from Friday.
The seven-day exercise will run until Thursday. It will allow registered voters to verify their details, make claims or objections and collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVC). The exercise will take place across all 207 Registration Areas in the state. It will run daily from 9 am to 3 pm, including weekends.
The display is part of INEC’s preparations for the 2027 general elections. It will also help identify errors or missing information before INEC compiles the final voter register.

Plateau State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof. Samuel Egwu, announced the exercise in a statement shared with journalists in Jos on Thursday. Egwu said the exercise would comply with Section 19(1) of the Electoral Act 2026, which requires INEC to display the voter register at least 90 days before a general election.
He said the commission would handle the display of the preliminary register, claims and objections, and PVC collection at the same time.
“The Independent National Electoral Commission, Plateau State, wishes to inform the good people of Plateau State that the Commission will commence display of the Preliminary Register of Voters, attend to the hearing of Claims and Objections, as well as collection of Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) simultaneously in all 207 Registration Areas in the State, from the 9th to 15th of October 2026,” Egwu said.

He urged registered voters to use the exercise to check their personal and voting information.
“All registered voters are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to carefully check information they provided such as their names, photographs, date of birth, polling units and other relevant registration details,” he said.
Egwu said voters could raise claims or objections where they found errors or other discrepancies. He added that PVCs from the first phase of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise would also be available for collection. The first phase of the exercise ran from August 18 to December 10, 2025.

According to Egwu, the PVCs will be distributed at the Registration Area level during the seven-day display. They will later be moved to the Local Government Area level.
“Remember, your PVC is your power,” the REC added.
The nationwide display of the preliminary voter register is scheduled for October 9 to 15, 2026, before the 2027 general elections.
