Health officials in Wajir County, Kenya, have confirmed that a suspected Ebola case has tested negative following the release of laboratory results on Thursday.
The case involved a 20-year-old man who was admitted to Habaswein Sub-County Hospital in Wajir South Sub-County. He had travelled from the Democratic Republic of Congo through Uganda to Kenya.
According to Wajir County Governor Ahmed Abdullahi, health teams acted quickly because of the patient’s symptoms and travel history. Officials collected samples and sent them to the National Public Health Virology Laboratory in Nairobi for testing. The preliminary results showed that the patient was negative for Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).

The county government said health officials would continue to monitor the patient and provide the necessary medical care.
Governor Abdullahi praised health workers at Habaswein Sub-County Hospital, the County Department of Medical Services, Public Health and Sanitation, and national health partners for their swift response. He also urged residents to remain calm and avoid sharing unverified information that could cause fear and panic.
The governor advised anyone who notices unusual signs of illness to report to the nearest health facility promptly. He added that the county government remains committed to protecting all residents’ health and well-being.
