Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has dissolved the State Executive Council ahead of his second-term inauguration, retaining three key aides in their current positions.
The governor announced the dissolution after a valedictory session with cabinet members at the Executive Council Chamber in the Governor’s Office, Ado-Ekiti.
The meeting marked the final gathering of the outgoing cabinet as Oyebanji prepares to begin another four-year term.
The session opened with hymns, praise songs and thanksgiving to God for his guidance throughout the administration’s first four years.
Oyebanji described the outgoing cabinet as a formidable team whose contributions had helped his administration implement its promises to the people of Ekiti State.

He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve, saying his administration had remained committed to making the state a better place for residents.
The governor also commended cabinet members for supporting the implementation of his administration’s policies and programmes, assuring them that he would maintain contact with them.
However, he clarified that the dissolution would not affect the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Habibat Adubiaro; the Chief of Staff, Oyeniyi Adebayo; and the Chief Press Secretary, Olayinka Oyebode, who would remain in their respective positions.
In their separate remarks, members of the outgoing council reflected on their experiences in government and thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve under his leadership.
The event ended with the cutting of a valedictory cake to mark the conclusion of the cabinet’s tenure.
Oyebanji, who was re-elected in the June 20 governorship election, is scheduled to be sworn in for a second term on Friday, October 16, 2026.
