Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has pledged to deliver greater results in his second term, crediting God and President Bola Tinubu’s support for the progress his administration has recorded over the past four years.

Oyebanji expressed confidence that the state would make further progress during the next four years, saying his second tenure would have a greater impact with God’s grace and the continued support of residents.

“With God’s grace and support of the people, my second term will be far more impactful than the first,” he said.

The governor spoke on Sunday at the conclusion of an eight-hour worship programme organised in Ado Ekiti as part of activities marking the end of his first term and his inauguration for a second term.

Oyebanji, who won the June 20 governorship election, is scheduled to be sworn in on Friday, October 16.

He said the praise session was a central part of his inauguration plans, explaining that he had asked his wife to ensure the programme was included. The eight hours of worship, he said, represented four hours of thanksgiving for his first term and another four hours to commit the incoming tenure to God.

“I actually don’t have much to say today other than to explain the reason I chose to have this ‘Eight hours of praise worship’ to God. When they were crafting the programmes for the inauguration, I told my wife that the only thing I wanted, and that is extremely important, is eight hours of quality praise and worship to God. Four hours for the last four years and another four hours for the next four years,” he added.

Addressing worshippers, government officials, political leaders and other residents at the event, the governor described his administration’s experience over the past four years as evidence of divine grace. He also reaffirmed his commitment to continuing to praise and worship God.

Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele commended Oyebanji’s leadership and dedication to the people of Ekiti, expressing optimism that the governor would achieve more in his second term.

Bamidele said the decision to organise the programme reflected Oyebanji’s gratitude to God on behalf of himself and the state. He urged the governor to remain focused and confident, adding that the administration could build on its first-term achievements and exceed expectations.

Managing Director of Premium Trust Bank, Emmanuel Emefienim, also expressed confidence in Ekiti’s prospects under Oyebanji’s second tenure.

Emefienim described the worship programme as both an act of thanksgiving and a declaration of faith in the state’s future. He said the gathering would have a lasting significance for Ekiti and future generations.

He added that beginning the new term with praise and prayer demonstrated faith ahead of the challenges of governance, expressing the belief that the next four years would deliver better outcomes than the first.
