72-year-old traveler from South Africa charged with cocaine trafficking

A 72-year-old man who arrived in Hong Kong from Johannesburg, South Africa has been charged with drug trafficking after customs seized 2.1 kilograms of cocaine worth $280,000 at Hong Kong International Airport on March 3.

Two slabs of cocaine were found hidden inside the false compartment of a briefcase inside his suitcase. The man will appear at West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts tomorrow.
