The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has begun collating the results from its presidential primaries held across Nigeria.

The party’s presidential primaries began on Monday, with three candidates vying for the party’s presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and banker Mohammed Hayatu-Deen are contesting the ADC presidential ticket.

“The process reflects the party’s commitment to transparency, internal democracy, and credible leadership selection at the National Secretariat. The process continues. The moment is historic.”

Although the party has yet to announce the winner of the primaries, early voting figures released by the ADC show that Atiku has taken an early lead in the party’s presidential primaries, securing victories in five states.

Earlier, Hayatu-Deen, in a post shared on X on Tuesday, said he would not attend the party’s result announcement and alleged widespread rigging.

“I will not be attending the announcement of the ADC presidential election results today. I am concerned by reports from across the country of widespread vote rigging, some of which I myself observed, and will therefore be taking advice on my next steps,” he wrote.
