The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is projected to generate a record profit of $112.84 million for the Confederation of African Football (CAF), marking the most financially successful tournament in the competition’s history.
According to figures released by CAF, the upcoming edition — scheduled to take place in Morocco — is expected to surpass all previous financial performances in terms of broadcasting rights, sponsorship deals, and match-day revenues. The anticipated record profit represents a significant increase from the $75 million achieved during the 2023 tournament in Côte d’Ivoire.
CAF officials attribute the positive outlook to Morocco’s advanced sporting infrastructure, strong corporate partnerships, and the country’s growing reputation as a global sports destination. The North African nation has invested heavily in modern stadiums, hospitality, and logistics to ensure the event runs smoothly and attracts international audiences.

President of CAF, Patrice Motsepe, expressed optimism that the 2025 AFCON would not only deliver strong financial returns but also showcase Africa’s footballing potential to the world. He said the tournament’s success would provide critical resources to reinvest in grassroots football, youth development, and women’s competitions across the continent.
Industry analysts have also pointed out that increased global broadcasting reach and new sponsorship agreements with major brands have positioned AFCON as a premier international tournament. The addition of advanced digital engagement strategies, including live-streaming and social media integration, is expected to boost fan participation and drive further commercial value.
With Morocco preparing to host 24 teams and millions of football fans worldwide, the 2025 AFCON is shaping up to be a landmark event — both financially and culturally. CAF officials have pledged that part of the profits will go towards enhancing football infrastructure and training programmes across member associations.
