The football body reported that AFCON Morocco 2025 had become the most viewed continental football competition, driven largely by heightened engagement from the African diaspora and younger audiences worldwide.

CAF noted that content from the tournament, including goals, dramatic match moments, behind-the-scenes footage and fan reactions, spread rapidly across borders, languages and cultures, reinforcing AFCON’s status as a global spectacle.

According to the confederation, fan participation played a central role in the tournament’s digital success, with 285 million engagements recorded across platforms. TikTok was stated as a key driver, with more than one million fan-generated videos created using the hashtag #TotalEnergiesAFCON2025.

CAF also stated that the content extended beyond football, incorporating humour, music, fashion and tactical analysis, helping to broaden the tournament’s appeal and introduce AFCON to new audiences.

The competition, hosted by Morocco, ran from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026. Senegal won the title, while hosts Morocco finished second and Nigeria placed third.
