African Leaders Meet in Paris to Discuss Vaccine Production

France, in partnership with the African Union (AU) and GAVI (the Vaccine Alliance), aims to raise over $1 billion to boost vaccine production in Africa.

The Global Forum for Vaccine Sovereignty and Innovation in Paris discussed this ambitious goal today in Paris. The event had African heads of state, health ministers, the WHO Director, and pharmaceutical leaders in attendance.

At the forum, the African Vaccine Manufacturing Accelerator (AVMA) was launched to aid Africa in achieving vaccine self-sufficiency, targeting 60% production by 2040.
