Many airports across Africa are becoming hubs of smoother airline operations and are setting new standards for service and efficiency in aviation.

More airports are expanding with more flight connections and investing in modern terminals and state-of-the-art airport infrastructure to give travellers the best experience.

OAG data reveals that 182.4 million seats were scheduled from January to October 2026, and 129.5 million of those on international routes, an 18.6% jump from last year.

Travellers boarding flights on the continent or arriving in airports now enjoy faster check-ins, better lounges, and a range of amenities that make flying through Africa an unforgettable experience.

The latest Skytrax report has ranked African airports for delivering impeccable service to travellers. According to the report, Cape Town International Airport is the best airport in Africa in 2026.

O.R. Tambo International Airport

The O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, the capital of South Africa, ranks second in Africa according to the latest Skytrax rankings. The airport is one of the few globally that offer scheduled passenger flights to all six inhabited continents.

Marrakech Menara Airport

Situated in Morocco, a North African country, Marrakech Menara Airport ranks third in the latest Skytrax rankings, behind two South African airports. It handled more than 9.3 million passengers in 2025.

King Shaka International Airport
