Air France announced Tuesday that it will prolong the suspension of its flights to Madagascar at least until Friday, citing ongoing unrest in the island nation. The French airline said resumption of services will depend on daily assessments of the situation on the ground.
The suspension follows earlier interruptions over the weekend, initially set for two days. Meanwhile, Air Austral, a French carrier based in La Réunion, confirmed it would continue flights while closely monitoring developments.
Madagascar’s President Andry Rajoelina, facing widespread protests, has ruled out resigning and on Tuesday dissolved the national assembly to pre-empt an opposition-led vote seeking his removal amid the escalating political crisis.
