Allied Air Boeing 737 Was Picking Up CBN Cargo–NSIB Report

Nigeria’s Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has revealed that the Allied Air Boeing 737-400 Freighter, which crash-landed at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on December 11, 2024, was scheduled to collect cargo for the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The preliminary report, released on Saturday, details that the aircraft, registered as 5N-JRT, operated by Allied Air Limited, was on a positioning flight from Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, to pick up the cargo. The flight had taken off at 09:11 and began descending into Abuja at 09:44.

Despite the crash-landing, all occupants were unharmed, and the cabin and cockpit’s structural integrity remained intact. The crew, consisting of a Captain and First Officer, held valid licenses and medical certificates. Weather conditions were deemed favourable, with no adverse factors contributing to the incident.

The aircraft had completed 101 landings since November 1, 2024, with 85 involving Flaps 15.
