A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has urged key political figures within the party, including Rotimi Amaechi and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, to exercise restraint and work together if they are truly committed to removing the All Progressives Congress (APC) from power.
Momodu made the remarks during a breakfast interview on News Central TV, where he assessed the ongoing ADC primaries and tensions within the party.
“I was actually surprised that very experienced politicians, especially my friend and brother Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, would not allow the primary to be concluded.”@DeleMomodu says post-primary disagreements are expected and urges contenders to let the process run its course. pic.twitter.com/KOkl96KRgH

He said disagreements and resistance are common features of political contests, especially among those dissatisfied with outcomes.
“Well, I think it is in the nature of elections for those who have lost out not to accept sometimes,” he said.
He expressed surprise at what he described as attempts by some senior political actors to disrupt the process before it was concluded.
“In this case, this election has not been concluded yet. It’s still in process. And I was actually shocked and surprised that very experienced politicians, especially my friend and brother, Rotimi Ameachi, would not even allow the primary to be concluded,” he said.

Momodu appealed for calm, urging those involved to de-escalate tensions and allow the process to run its course.
“So, I will plead with him again like I pleaded last week, because he started getting angry since last week about the election. He would not allow a consensus, and I’m sure it was majorly because of someone like him and maybe to a large extent, Hayatu-deen, that we had to go through this rigorous process. So I will plead with them to cool temper,”he stated.
He further argued that if the opposition truly shares the goal of dislodging the APC, unity and cooperation are essential.
“If they are indeed true patriotic Nigerians who wish to make sure that this APC government that has thrown all of us into absolute chaos, they will want to remove the APC government, then they should please cool temper and cooperate,” he said.
Responding to reports of parallel activities and alleged internal disruptions within the ADC, Momodu dismissed such developments as politically motivated distractions.
“Have you seen their names on any INEC portal? Anybody can wake up from anywhere in his bedroom and in whatever mood or state and say I’m a member of ADC,” he said.
He likened the situation to historical political sabotage efforts, warning that some actors may be working to create confusion within the opposition space.
“Are we back to June 12th when we had the Arthur Nzeribe and others, Otunba Abimbola Davies struggling to kill June 12th? That’s what I see,” he said.
Momodu added that those behind the parallel claims lack legitimacy and will ultimately be forced to seek judicial clarification.
“I see people who are being used by some subterranean forces just to make sure that there is total commotion and confusion in Nigeria. And I cannot waste my time on them.
“They will have to go to court…Because they know INEC does not recognize them,”he said.
