The All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged victorious in 20 out of 23 local government areas in Saturday’s chairmanship and councillorship elections in Rivers State.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which controls the state government, secured only three LGAs. Among them was Opobo-Nkoro, Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s home local government, which went to the opposition.
Announcing the results on Sunday afternoon at the commission’s headquarters along Aba Road, Port Harcourt, RSIEC Chairman, Dr. Michael Odey, confirmed the APC’s landslide win.
