American multinational technology company Apple has launched its latest 14-inch MacBook Pro, powered by the all-new M5 chip, marking what it describes as a major leap forward in artificial intelligence performance, speed, and efficiency.

The M5 chip features a next-generation 10-core GPU and a neural accelerator in every core, promising up to 3.5 times faster AI performance and 1.6 times faster graphics compared to the previous M4 model.

It also includes an enhanced neural engine and higher memory bandwidth to improve overall processing power.

“With M5, the 14-inch MacBook Pro gets even better — marking the next big leap in AI for the Mac,” said John Ternus, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering. “It accelerates demanding workflows for everyone from students to developers and creative professionals.”

Apple claims the laptop delivers up to 24 hours of battery life, faster solid-state drive speeds, and enhanced efficiency for demanding creative applications such as 4K video editing, 3D rendering, and AI-powered workflows.

Running on macOS Tahoe, the device introduces new AI-driven features such as improved Spotlight search, Live Translation, and expanded Apple Intelligence capabilities designed for privacy-preserving on-device processing.

Developers can also leverage Apple’s Foundation Model framework for intelligent automation within their apps.

The laptop includes a Liquid Retina XDR display, a 12MP Centre Stage camera, a six-speaker system, multiple Thunderbolt ports, and storage options up to 4TB.

As part of Apple’s Apple 2030 sustainability initiative, the new MacBook Pro incorporates 45% recycled materials and is produced using 55% renewable electricity. The chassis is made from 100% recycled aluminium, with fully fibre-based packaging.

Prices start at US$1,599 (£1,310) or US$1,499 (£1,230) for education customers, and pre-orders are now open ahead of its official release on October 22, 2025.
