Armando Broja Leaves Chelsea for Burnley

English-born striker Armando Broja has left Chelsea to join newly promoted Burnley on a five-year deal, the Premier League club confirmed on Friday.

While the transfer fee has not been officially disclosed, British media report that Burnley will pay Chelsea an initial £10 million, with a possible £5 million in add-ons.

The move ends Broja’s long association with the Blues, which began in 2009 when he joined their academy from Tottenham at the age of eight. He went on to make 38 first-team appearances, scoring nine goals.

The striker, who represents Albania internationally, has spent much of his career on loan, with spells at Southampton, Fulham, and most recently Everton.

The Toffees opted not to make his move permanent, and with Chelsea investing heavily in forwards Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, Broja has chosen to continue his career at Turf Moor.

Speaking after the move, the 23-year-old said, “I am excited to be here as a Burnley player. It’s a positive time to be joining this club ahead of the start of the new Premier League season. I can’t wait to get going. I’m feeling good, I’m ready, and I’m excited about the challenge. I can tell you all that I will be giving my all every time I pull on the famous claret shirt.”

Broja becomes Burnley’s third major signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Bashir Humphreys and Lesley Ugochukwu, as the club strengthens its squad for its return to the Premier League.
