Four female students of Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University of Agriculture, Makurdi, in Benue State were abducted by some yet-to-be-identified armed men late Tuesday within the school premises.
Nigerian humanitarian Ukan Kurugh shared the news on Facebook, revealing that Makurdi Local Government Chairman, Hon. Keffi, visited the scene with security personnel to assess the situation and ensure other students’ safety.
Kurugh wrote:
“Breaking News from Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University of Agriculture
“Reports emerging tonight indicate that the young women in the photos below have been abducted by unknown gunmen at the university premises.
“Sources confirm that the Chairman of Makurdi Local Government Hon. Keffi has arrived at the scene with a strong security presence to ensure the safety of other students while search and rescue operations are underway.”
Meanwhile, security agencies have yet to issue an official statement.
