AU: DR Congo-M23 Ceasefire ‘Significant’

The African Union (AU) announced on Saturday that a ceasefire agreement signed between the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the Rwanda-backed M23 armed group is a “significant development.”

Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, chairperson of the African Union, stated in a press release that this agreement “marks a major milestone in the ongoing efforts to achieve lasting peace, security, and stability in eastern DRC and the wider Great Lakes region.”
