Former Chief Upstream Investment Officer of NNPC Upstream Investment Services, Bala Wunti, has formally declared his intention to contest in the 2027 governorship election in Bauchi State under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Wunti made the declaration during a courtesy visit to the Bauchi Local Government chapter of the APC at the party’s secretariat.
In a statement issued by his support organisation, the decision was described as one driven by mounting pressure and calls from citizens, stakeholders, and supporters across the state.
“Allah knows I only accepted to contest because of the pressure mounted on me to help rescue the future of our unemployed youth and safeguard the next generation,” Wunti said.
He also congratulated the newly inaugurated leadership of the APC in Bauchi LGA and reaffirmed his loyalty to the party, pledging to run an inclusive administration focused on sustainable development and equal opportunities if elected.
Meanwhile, the recent resignation of Yusuf Tuggar as Minister of Foreign Affairs has fuelled speculation that he may also join the governorship race under the APC platform.
Earlier, the coordinator of the Bala Wunti Movement introduced the aspirant to party stakeholders, describing the visit as part of efforts to strengthen unity within the party.
In his remarks, the APC Chairman of Bauchi Local Government praised Wunti as a distinguished son of the state with a strong record in mentorship and community development, noting that his contributions have helped shape future leaders.
