Gunmen have demanded a N100 million ransom for the release of two residents, Tayese Adeyeye and Sunday Adewumi, abducted from Ora Igbomina in Osun State.

The victims were seized during a midnight raid on February 1, when bandits stormed a private residence near the Kwara State boundary and dragged them into the surrounding forest.

Family sources confirmed the kidnappers established contact using one of the victims’ mobile phones to issue the high-stakes demand.

While the families plead for a reduction, the Osun State Police Command stated that search and rescue operations are ongoing.

Police spokesperson Abiodun Ojelabi noted that additional forces have been deployed, though the command maintains it has not been officially informed of any ransom negotiations.

The incident has triggered widespread panic in the community, as it follows the recent kidnapping of a former Customs officer in the same area last December.

Local leaders remain concerned that the porous boundary between Osun and Kwara states continues to serve as a primary entry point for criminal elements.
