Armed bandits reportedly carried out coordinated night attacks on several communities in Katsina State, abducting many residents.

Eyewitnesses on Tuesday said that the attackers struck on Monday night, storming the affected areas with heavy weapons and operating for several hours while wreaking havoc.

Security sources said the assailants first attacked Unguwar Alhaji Barau before moving on to Gidan Dan Mai-gizo and Gidan Hazo communities, all in Na’alma Ward of Malumfashi Local Government Area.

As of the time of reporting, security agencies had not issued an official statement, and authorities had yet to confirm the number of people killed or abducted.

The spokesperson for the Katsina State Police Command, Abubakar Sadiq, said he was not aware of the incident when contacted but promised to verify the report and provide feedback.

Malumfashi remains one of the frontline local government areas in Katsina State, where bandit attacks have continued to rise, despite recent peace agreements between local authorities and armed groups.

The latest attacks come months after the deadly mosque assault in Malumfashi on August 19, 2025, when gunmen invaded a mosque in Unguwar Mantau community, opened fire on worshippers and killed at least 32 people.
