Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, has flagged off the reconstruction and enhancement of the State House of Assembly Complex on Tuesday, with a budget of N7.8 billion.
During the groundbreaking event held at the Assembly’s location, the Governor said that the complex, originally constructed in the 1980s by the state’s first governor, Abubakar Tatari Ali, will undergo a thorough upgrade.
He added that the renovation would be carried out by Architronics Nigeria Ltd, which was chosen through a competitive bidding process, and noted that the contractor had received 50 percent of the project cost upfront to ensure completion within the 12-month timeframe.
The Governor pointed out that no significant renovations had taken place in the complex for almost two decades adding that this initiative is part of his administration’s broader effort to strengthen institutions across all branches of government.
Mohammed highlighted that this project represents more than just infrastructure; it signifies equal treatment and is a testament to the respect and strategic investment in the legislative branch of government.
He promised that his administration is committed to providing a conducive environment for lawmakers to fulfill their constitutional duties effectively.

To facilitate the uninterrupted legislative activities during the reconstruction, the Governor said that temporary offices would be set up at the former Deputy Governor’s office.
The Speaker, Abubakar Suleiman, expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the lawmakers to the governor for this generous initiative, describing the renovation as a renewal of both the physical structure and democratic dedication.
