The Bauchi State Police Command has appointed Superintendent of Police Nafiu Habib as its new Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO).
The appointment was announced on Monday in a statement by the outgoing PPRO, Ahmed Wakil, who confirmed that Habib has formally assumed duty at the command’s headquarters in Bauchi.
Wakil described Habib as a seasoned and versatile officer with more than 16 years of experience spanning operational duties, administration and strategic communication within the Nigeria Police Force.
Habib holds a master’s degree in Conflict and Security Studies from Bayero University, Kano.
He also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology and Security Studies from the National Open University of Nigeria and graduated from the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano, as a member of Cadet Inspector Course 38/2009.

The command noted that he has served in several key roles nationwide, including Police Public Relations Officer at the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil; Deputy PPRO at the Kaduna State Command; Managing Editor of the NPA News Bulletin in 2021 and 2022; as well as a resource person and lecturer to cadet officers on misconduct and professional ethics.
On assuming office, Habib pledged to enhance police–public relations through credible communication, efficient information management and community-focused policing strategies.
He assured residents of Bauchi State of his commitment to professionalism, transparency, and responsiveness in line with global best practices.
The police command urged members of the public, media organisations and other stakeholders to support and cooperate with the new spokesperson.
