Bayern Munich cruised into the Champions League quarter-finals on Wednesday with a dominant 4-1 home victory over Atalanta, completing a staggering 10-2 aggregate win.

Harry Kane, captaining the side for the first time in the competition, led the charge by scoring in both halves. His brace brought his career Champions League total to 50 goals in just 66 appearances.

Despite missing several key stars, including Jamal Musiala and Manuel Neuer, injured, the Bundesliga leaders proved too powerful for the last remaining Serie A side in the tournament.

The match turned midway through the first half when a VAR review confirmed a handball by Giorgio Scalvini, awarding Bayern a penalty.

Although his initial attempt was saved, Kane made no mistake on the retake after the goalkeeper was ruled off his line.

Early in the second half, Kane doubled the lead with a powerful strike on the turn, showcasing his sharpness in his first start since February.

Young prospect Lennart Karl and winger Luis Diaz also added to the scoreline as Bayern’s relentless attack overwhelmed the visitors.

Atalanta managed a late consolation goal through Lazar Samardzic. Still, they were unable to truly threaten a Bayern side that had already done the heavy lifting with a 6-1 first-leg win in Bergamo.

The victory sets up a high-profile quarter-final showdown against Real Madrid, a rematch of the 2023-24 semi-finals.

Bayern will be seeking their first win over the Spanish giants in over a decade as they look to redeem their dramatic exit from last season.
